HMS hold termly network meetings with primary music teams where all music teachers, coordinators, class teachers / LSAs with an interest in music are invited to attend. These are fantastic opportunities for music teachers to meet and discuss key issues and are well attended. Topics covered in these sessions might include:
- The National Curriculum for Music
- OFSTED requirements for Music
- Assessment
- KS2/3 Transition
- Progression Routes for the most able pupils
- SEND Issues
- EYFS Issues
- The significance of access to the arts for Pupil Premium pupils
- The wider impact of music
- Resource Sharing
- Best Practice Sharing
- Vocal CPD
- Instrumental CPD
- Projects and Opportunities
Hackney Music Service Partners are also regularly invited to attend these sessions to share the opportunities they have on offer and sometimes to lead additional twilight / CPD sessions in their particular fields of expertise as appropriate.
Invitations to attend these meetings are sent out to all primary Head Teachers and designated Music Leads. If there is no designated Music Lead in a particular school we strongly encourage Head Teachers to nominate an alternative member of staff to attend.
