Hackney Music Service provides an instrument loan scheme and referral service to support schools and families for children who are learning to play musical instruments in a Hackney school or participating in one of our ensembles.
We offer an Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS) VAT free for parents wishing to purchase instruments for their child – conditions apply. Click here for application details.
Parents and families can also purchase instruments on the Arts Council sponsored Take it Away scheme. Take it Away aims to make musical instruments more accessible to children and young people by providing interest-free loans of up to £5,000.
Schemes available:
- Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS) – for children learning through HMS
- Take It Away, an Arts Council supported scheme – for adults and children
- Advice on repair and maintenance of instruments – including referral to suitable repairers
