Initially set up under the auspices of the Hackney Music Service, has since September 2017, with the continuing support of James Thomas and The Bridge Academy, been able to sustain steady growth. With our membership now at almost forty musicians, we feel we can look ahead to building an assured future for the orchestra in Hackney.

The Orchestra aims, under the able directorship of Chris Harrison, to bring people together to create a unique ensemble for Hackney, playing all kinds of music, from jazz to pop and classical to folk.

We are a learning orchestra that in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere are trying to encourage returning musicians, late starters, together with many skilled and able musicians to play together in the belief that participation in making music is something we can all aspire to given the right encouragement and support.
